Sustainable Salons is a social enterprise that is making sustainability reality for the feel good industry: hair & beauty salons, barbers, dermal clinics & pet groomers. They do this by rescuing up to 95% of salon resources from landfill and donate 100% of proceeds from the sale of these materials to local communities and charities. Their work supports people of all abilities while helping the planet and creating a greener profit for our members. They have over 1000 members across Australia and New Zealand as part of the journey to zero waste.

How Comb & Collar contribute to a zero waste future

Recycling Hair Waste.

Hair is collected from the salon floor recycled to be made into hair booms to help clean up oil spills.

Recycling Plastic Waste.

Our plastics can be made into outdoor furniture and glasses and long term plastics. Even our products are repurposed and can be used in manufacturing, rather than polluting our waterways. Our plastics are collected, cleaned and upcycled into new products.

Contributing To Charity.

All tubes, cardboard, paper, magazines, razor blades, unwanted tools and select disposables are sold for recycling, and the proceeds are donated to Oz Harvest and Kiwi Harvest to provide meals for hungry people.

The $3.00 Sustainable Salons Fee is a charge that Comb & Collar adds to each client’s final service bill.

What is the Sustainable Salon Fee?

The Sustainable Salons Fee (SSF) is a accountability fee charged to each client per visit.

How is the SSF charged to the client at the end of the visit?

This is best explained using the following example: A client at the salon generally pays $65.00 for a medium dog, Comb & Collar Bath but as you have selected a groomer that is a member of the Sustainable Salons program, your final service bill will total $68.00 after adding the $3.00 SSF.

Does the Sustainable Salon fee include GST?

The Sustainable Salons Fee is $2.73 + GST = $3.00. This fee includes its own GST component.

It is not income to the salon; it comes in to the salon and gets paid back out to Sustainable Salons.
